Earth Foundation is a nonprofit, national media specialist team that is particularly concerned with Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. We work to preserve Hawaii’s native culture & natural resources by researching the state's agriculture, energy and water challenges; helping safeguard the state's beaches & land; cooperating with Native Hawaiians statewide to strengthen their voice and rights; and working to protect Hawaii and the Pacific from the perils of nuclear waste.
Earth Foundation has developed close ties with the Hawaii State Legislature, the University of Hawaii, the United Nations and its related agencies.
In the Hawaii State Legislature, EF enjoys strong working relationships with top leaders in the State Senate and House of Representatives. On Maui, we have warm connections with top elected and appointed officials and we work closely with Maui County Government where appropriate.
Earth Foundation's core expertise is the generation of critical information in the media, on the internet and through campaigns on the ground to give people facts and solutions, i.e., what to do, who to contact and how to contact them. Our efforts are focused on mobilizing significant numbers of people to show up, speak out and be heard.
In August 1997, while Earth Foundation was preparing its "Public 501(c)(3) charitable organization" application, we proceeded to build vitally important infrastructure relationships. EF’s President had a series of successful meetings with United Nations agencies in New York and the U.N. Global Environment Facility ("GEF") in Washington, D.C to develop personal connections and long-term collaborative opportunities with these organizations. A retired U.N. Assistant Secretary General and UNEP Executive Deputy Director is on EF's Board of Directors and has generously offered to help us reach whomever else we need to speak to in the U.N.
EF has been dealing with the U.N. since 1997 and is currently in contact with a score of dynamic officials who work for the seven U.N. agencies listed below:
-
-
U.N. Environmental Programme (UNEP)
- U.N. Television
